Our Mission

Over the summer of 2020, our leadership team came together to refocus the mission of VHHS Habitat for Humanity. For over fifteen years, we operated with no defined mission statement. We knew that we needed to reevaluate our role within our school and community. Habitat, at its core, is a Christian organization with a goal of providing affordable housing.

Mother Theresa once suggested that we should strive to "do small things with great love." Love Your Neighbor Week was created to embody our mission. We are actively seeking to invest in VHHS and Vestavia Hills through doing small things with great love. We are guided by our desire to put Gods love in action. We believe that with our refocused mission we will be able to reach more students, community members, and Habitat Homeowners than ever before.

Non-proselytizing policy

Although Christ is at the center of what we do, Habitat for Humanity and VHHS Habitat operate under a non-proselytizing policy. This means that Habitat will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must adhere to or convert to a particular faith.
